Hi everyone!
I shared a few weeks ago this skin tones pencils on instagram and some of you asked me to share it. So here it is. 🙂
First, let me tell you the story about these pencils…
It was Peace Day and we had to color a bunch of kids holding hands for a classroom bulletin board. Then I noticed that all the kids were using the same tone. I have very little diversity in my classroom. So I thought that it was important to make them notice about skin tones. We talked a LOT about it and we decided that we should represent them in a way. BUT they did not have that ‘rainbow of skin tones’ in their pencil pouches, so I bought a pack and took another one that I had at home and the skin tones cup of pencils was born.
If you live in Spain, the first set was bought about 5 years ago in Abacus, I could not find it this year. I found a smaller pack in Dideco.
Click on the next photo if you want the label in English or Spanish (color carne).
After a couple of weeks the kids still use it and you can see how they colored these worksheets.
If you are interested in the worksheet it is from my Months of the year craftivity. This worksheet is in Valencian (not included). Download the preview to see what you get (English & Spanish).
