Polar Bear craftivity

I shared a little craft a couple of days ago on Instagram and some of you contacted me to get the pattern. So, better late than never. Get your pattern and enjoy the craft!

Free Polar Bear craftivity

I recognize this is not the cutest craft I have ever made (check out the blog/store for better examples). But it is quick and cheap because you do not need colored paper and you won’t spend a lot of your time coloring.

For the scarves I used cute colored paper I bought from Target a couple of years ago.

If you want to create a the big letters just use big fonts on power point and have lots of patience to cut them out.

I am back. Again…

I have completely neglected the blog. Life happens…

I had a daughter 11 months ago. We are beyond happy and super tired, so creating new stuff and posting on the blog  was not a priority. In fact I have started this post so many times I had to edit the age of the baby twice. 😉

After a whole year at home with the baby I feel (almost) ready to go back to school.

Before leaving the class I packed most of my personal stuff into 6 big boxes and took them home. I still left a ton of personal stuff because I was feeling tired (pregnant). I wish I didn’t take so much home, because I ended having a wonderful sub, and everything was in perfect conditions.

I loved being a teacher again. I have an awesome group this year. I loved decorating the classroom and organizing everything. And I am enjoying read aloud time more than ever. During these months I have bought many books and I can’t wait to show them to my students.

After a whole month teaching half-day I love my new situation. I have my day in the classroom but I go back early enough to enjoy the afternoons as a mom. I don’t know how this is going to work with TpT but as you can see she is already helping. 😉

Back to school week with No David

back to school week freebies

I finally found some time to share our first week in the classroom.

If you have been following for a while you know that last year I was teaching secondgrade. This year I am back to first and loving every minute.

I will be teaching Art to first and second grade too.

So our first week went superfast as always. I spent most of the time working on transitions and expectations. And I can see some of that now. 🙂

We started with a small game/chant to know each other and then we made a minibook about our first day in first grade. You can find a similar one here.

We did first day crowns too. I forgot taking pictures so I am sharing them for free. Click on the picture to download the freebie with English and Spanish crowns (only first and second grade available).

During the next days we worked on more rules and expectations, our favorite book was David goes to School or David va al colegio. We read the book and we had a discussion about classroom rules. Lots of don’t pee on the table, or don’t spit in your friend’s schoolbag… I have a funny bunch this year.

When we could make a decision I wrote the on an anchor chart and drew David. By the time I was drawing it the kids where drawing it too on their desks. They had never done a directed drawing so I gave them a little help. Feel free to use it with your kids.
