End of the year sharks

I have recently moved to WordPress and I am still learning how to use my blog.

This is going to be my first post 😉

I want to share our end of the year with you.  We have had a great end of second grade. I had a great group and I will miss them next year.

Every year our whole school does a theme. We all decorate doors and halls. Last year it was The Circus. I loved this theme. This year we did water. Each grade focused on a different thing. We chose Oceans.

Ocean classroom doorThis is my coworker’s door. I forgot taking my picture. But we did it together so it looked the same.

First we painted and decorated paper. The kids drew some ocean creatures while the other teacher and I used the painted paper to create shapes. We used this patterns to help them.

let's draw ocean friends

We also did a shark craft I found on pinterest. It was so easy that I did not give them patterns, they did on their own. I like seeing all the different faces they created.

Our end of the year trip was a night in the Aquarium. It was awesome and I loved that all my students were able to attend. I think that this was the best way to end our year together. It was a wonderful experience. I did not sleep but I enjoyed every minute.

The kids were thrilled to sleep with sharks. But before going we studied sharks.

I always try to make a cute end of the year gift that is meaningful to them, and this year I found the best one!

I bought these pencil pouches the weekend after the trip. And I saved these sharks them for two months! I also added a personalized bookmark by the Brown Bag Teacher. You can get them here, they are free.

Santa is everywhere!

We are getting our classroom ready for the holidays. This was Santa’s week. The kids loved this directed drawing I found on pinterest:
It was super easy following the steps.

Then we cut all the drawings and glue them onto doublesided wrapping paper.

The kids did and amazing job!

There are many different crafts on krokotak.com

We will try more next week.

Bye bye Fall

We have been working on Proper Nouns and Common nouns. If you have been following for a while you know that I would not miss the opportunity to create a craft. So we created these Fall trees and I asked the kids to classify the nouns (Proper Nouns on the left/Common Nouns on the right). We also added the definition in the little boxes.
Get the pattern here (English & Spanish). I added some blank leaves to write their own nouns.
On the other hand I finished my Fall crafts with the first grade classrooms. I love being the Art Teacher! We created cute Fall leaves in a very short session.
First we glued a leave in the middle of a yellow paper. Then added some colorful strips of paper as borders.
The kids added the eyes made of punched circles and drew the arms and legs. It worked great and they were really proud of them! 🙂

I did not invented this craft myself I just used a cheap version of this one leaf people from Mess for Less.
