Christmas crafts

I loved this year Christmas celebration in our school. We did Polar Express on our last day before winter break. It was not a lot of work and the kids were superexcited. If you haven’t heard about it I highly recommend you doing a pinterest search for next year.

We decorated the classroom as a train and gave the students jingle bells in the end. It was magical.

We did some crafts too… So many I do not have photos of all of them:

The first one is this cute little elf by First grade Blue Skies:

We used foam instead of paper and it turned out ever cuter. 😉

We also did the snowman buddies we did last year but I totally let them to choose eyes, noses, hats… I love that they turned out so unique.

We did this awesome little craft too. This was pretty easy. Just print the body on light brown paper and decorate with crayons.

This Christmas ball was a hit. We decorated them with the families.

In my school we always ask parents to come and help for a day. The kids love  creating a family craft with them. This year we did Christmas balls.

First we gave them the white ornament and asked them to add Mod Podge and  colored tissue paper. When they finished they could add some all the glitter.

The next day we did tags to wrte their names and take them home.

And now that Christmas is over I can’t wait to get ready for the Next year! See you in 2016!

I am Back! Halloween stuff

It is a little late to post about Halloween. I still have more posts about Xmas and winter coming soon.

I got married in October and I totally neglected the blog for two months.

First let me show you the wedding stuff:wedding

I do not have the photos yet, this is an instagram pic. It was a lovely day with friends and family. Then we went for the Honey Moon to Australia!!! We had lots of fun. Australia had been in my list for a very long time. We also had some time to visit some Australian friends. We attended a TPT meet up and finally met Melanie From the Pond.

Back to work again. It was hard but it really helps that I love my job and my school. And I had bought little gifts for the kiddos that I was excited to give them. 😉

It was time for Halloween stuff. When you have little or none time to prepare Halloween you have pinterest. I did this awesome craft with the kiddos. We used it last year too. Thanks to my coworker who sent me this photo because I forgot taking a photo of my classroom.

We used the Monster craft to review our number lines. I found the idea on Teacher Bits and Bobs.

We also did the classical bat hats. Nothing special, but the kids love using white crayons on black paper.

So this was all we did in Halloween , or at list what I can remember looking through my phone photos. Coming soon with some Christmas fun. 🙂

Back to school week with No David

back to school week freebies

I finally found some time to share our first week in the classroom.

If you have been following for a while you know that last year I was teaching secondgrade. This year I am back to first and loving every minute.

I will be teaching Art to first and second grade too.

So our first week went superfast as always. I spent most of the time working on transitions and expectations. And I can see some of that now. 🙂

We started with a small game/chant to know each other and then we made a minibook about our first day in first grade. You can find a similar one here.

We did first day crowns too. I forgot taking pictures so I am sharing them for free. Click on the picture to download the freebie with English and Spanish crowns (only first and second grade available).

During the next days we worked on more rules and expectations, our favorite book was David goes to School or David va al colegio. We read the book and we had a discussion about classroom rules. Lots of don’t pee on the table, or don’t spit in your friend’s schoolbag… I have a funny bunch this year.

No David activities for the first week of school

When we could make a decision I wrote the on an anchor chart and drew David. By the time I was drawing it the kids where drawing it too on their desks. They had never done a directed drawing so I gave them a little help. Feel free to use it with your kids.
